BAÉ is a bridal fashion brand recognisable for its minimalistic and chic wedding dresses that seamlessly blend sophistication with playful elements. What sets BAÉ apart is their masterful incorporation of playful details, introducing a touch of whimsy into each gown. These dresses are a harmonious fusion of classic and contemporary aesthetics, offering brides an opportunity to express their style while radiating elegance on their special day.
We spoke with bridal powerhouses Katya Shehurina and Marina Kvasova to find out more herself to find out more.
How was BAE founded, and what are the cornerstones of the brand?
BAÉ was set up by two like-minded spirits and friends – Katya & Marina. With two decades of combined experience in the fashion industry, their dynamic duo embarked on a mission to redefine occasion wear. Having identified an unmet demand in the market, they fused their expertise to give birth to a new ethical brand with a vision: dresses that celebrate special moments, designed to be cherished and worn repeatedly.
Talk us through your creative process. What influences you most when you are designing?
BAÉ is lovingly crafted in the picturesque Baltic States (EU). We have 1 production factory in Riga and all the accessories are hand-made by our talented designer, Katya, in our sunny studio, in the very heart of Riga. This is how BAÉ was born - our latest venture into sustainable bridalwear, (est in 2023), expertly made for brides with contemporary aesthetics.
We are incredibly excited for your Spring 2024 collection to be on display at White Gallery! What was your initial inspiration, and what should retailers expect to see from it?
Collection No.1 infuses apparel with a newfound sense of energy, allowing attire to become a canvas for emotions, transcending traditional design boundaries and making a statement that resonates.
If you had to choose one stand-out piece from the collection, what would it be and why?
A flirty and fun mini dress or classy maxi gown with the statement bow, - or any other accessory of your choice!
These dresses are perfect for registry office events, second-day celebrations, rehearsal dinners, or can serve as a second dress for a non-formal part of the celebration.
Sustainability is at the heart of BAE. Can you tell us more about it?
At BAÉ, we embrace a vision of sustainable luxury, selecting fabrics that not only embody luxury but also allow us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint by adopting a zero-waste approach, ensuring that every bit of fabric finds purpose. Our journey begins with a belief in creating women’s wear that not only showcases timeless elegance but also prioritizes the well-being of our planet. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond the design process. At BAÉ, we’ve adopted a zero-waste approach, and all of our dresses are produced in the EU. Leftover materials are transformed into exquisite accessories, creating a closed-loop system that minimizes waste and maximizes creativity.
We take pride in producing locally, supporting our community and reducing the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. Each piece is a testament to the skill and dedication of our local artisans, ensuring that your fashion choices contribute positively to both style and sustainability.
Can you share with us an exciting piece of news/what’s next for the brand?
Shortly, in April, within Riga Fashion Week, we will have exciting collaboration with Adidas (Riga), where bridal fashion and occasion wear will meet sportswear for the first time! This collaboration marks a special fusion that breaks boundaries, blending luxury and elegance with power and sports.
